EXPLANATION:
Medical assistance in dying for those whose sole underlying medical condition is mental illness is set to begin in March 2027 unless Bill C-218, introduced by Member of Parliament Tamara Jansen, is passed.
The bill is expected to be voted on October 7. If it receives sufficient support in Parliament, it will proceed to committee for further study. If it is defeated, the bill will die, and the expansion of MAID will remain scheduled for March 2027.
This is a critical window to contact Members of Parliament—particularly Liberal MPs—and respectfully ask them to support Bill C-218.
