EXPLANATION:

 

Thousands of students attending established private colleges and universities, including Christian institutions, are facing the loss of critical Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) funding.

 

In its effort to address concerns involving certain private career colleges, the Ontario government has introduced restrictions that advocates say are also affecting legitimate, provincially regulated institutions with longstanding records of compliance.  This is directly impacting Christian colleges and universities.

 

Now, weeks into the academic semester, students are facing serious financial uncertainty. Many depend on OSAP to pay tuition, rent, groceries, and support their families.

 

Students should not bear the consequences of problems they did not create.

 

We are calling on Premier Doug Ford, the Minister of Colleges and Universities, and Ontario MPPs to ensure that eligible students attending compliant institutions are not unfairly denied financial assistance.
